I’m Vanessa, and my journey began in Namibia. I grew up across the world thanks to my mother’s work as a diplomat, with childhood chapters in South Africa, Brazil, Ukraine, and China. That early exposure to different cultures shaped how I saw the world and made me feel at home anywhere.

When I got older, I kept going. I lived and worked in England, went back to China, then moved on to Dubai, the Netherlands, Germany, and Ireland. Soon, my partner and I will start our next adventure in Denmark.

My sister is the same. She’s also built a life across different continents and continues to explore new opportunities abroad. For both of us, international life isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are.

And about my mother, her global adventures still continue. Around nine years ago, while on a diplomatic mission in New Zealand, she met another nomad who turned out to be the love of her life. They married, moved to Morocco, and later retired early to Spain. Now they live happily, riding their motorbike and chasing new adventures. You can follow their journey on YouTube under the name Retired To Ride. They really are living the dream.

With each move, I learned how to find work, navigate local systems, settle in, and rebuild a life from scratch. And every time, I met others on a similar path. We shared advice, stories, and laughs, and those friends often called me “WorldTravla.” That nickname became part of the spirit behind this platform.

Over the years, I’ve seen how much potential people have to change their lives by changing their surroundings. But I’ve also seen how little guidance is out there. Many people simply don’t know how to take the first step, or what’s even possible for them.

That’s why I created StarTravla, to be the guide I wish more people had.

My journey isn’t over. I still have more places to go and stories to tell. One day, I’ll write a blog about all of it, the exciting parts, the mistakes, the lessons, and the moments I’ll never forget.
